My name is Jessica Carmeci. I am 24 years old. My daughter, who is now 9 years old, was sexually molested by a close family member when she was 7. My husband and I waited 2 long years for the justice system to put this man in prison. During those 2 years he ran free and we recently discovered he allegedly molested another child during this time. When the day of sentencing finally came, Judge Albert McCaig of Grimes and Waller County, Texas, sentenced him to only 90 days in county jail with 10 years Deferred Adjudication. Deferred Adjudication legally means your record is wiped clean. Only if you reoffend do you go to prison. So ANOTHER child has to be molested by this individual and the family has to be brave enough to come forward and press charges, for this man to be stopped. This judge had the opportunity but did not stop this offender with a prison term because "Eighteen-year-olds aren't known for having good judgment...And, by his own admission, he was drinking at the time of the offense." Does the Judge believe there can be AN EXCUSE for molesting a child? I feel strongly that we need to educate ourselves about which elected officials, such as Judge Albert McCaig, can be counted on to protect our children.

My name is Randa Fox and I am a survivor of sexual abuse. I can no longer remain SILENT about sexual abuse of children and the life long devastation it can have. At the age of 53, I have found my VOICE and started sharing my story. There is a sense of urgency that is rumbling through this country and it is the roaring SILENCE of adults who were victims of sexual abuse when they were children.
EVERY Predator counts on our SILENCE. We need a sense of URGENCY about this epidemic and my mission is to ask others to join me in this fight.
